From Reel to Real: Screenwriting to Film Production

Do you love movies and dream of making your own? In this course we’ll take an idea all the way to the finish line. That’s right—you’ll pitch, write, produce, and edit your way to a film of your own. 

We’ll cover the fundamentals of screenwriting and learn the secret tricks that all movies use to tell their story. You’ll also learn the basics of filmmaking along the way, and how to take an idea all the way to a final cut that you’ll be proud to show the world. 

This will be a highly collaborative class, with a focus on creating a fun atmosphere so that everyone is excited to contribute. Want to make movies? Come join us!

Regular Sessions: Tues & Thurs 4:00-5:30pm (6 weeks) 

One additional four-hour Saturday morning “Production Day” before the last week of classes. 

One additional four-hour Saturday morning “Post-Production/Editing” after the last week of classes.

First Five Weeks – Tuesdays and Thursdays – Screenwriting/Production Classes/Pre-Production Classes

• Saturday Nov 7th – Production Day – 9am – 1 pm with a snack and lunch break

• Tuesday Nov 10 – Post Production Specific Class
  *No class on Thursday, Nov 12, potential field trip

• Saturday Nov 14  – Post Production Day –  9am – 1 pm with a snack and lunch break

Final Edits and Screenings 

• Tuesday Nov 17 – Rough Cut Screenings and Final Cut Edits 

• Thursday Nov 19 – Last Class // Screening Day
